Located on Third Street between the Four Queens and Neonopolis, The D
Las Vegas recently completed a major renovation. Formerly known as The
Fitz and Fitzgeralds, the Irish-themed hotel shed its shamrocks and has
become a hipper, more party-oriented resort – one that is better suited
to the revitalized downtown area.
The makeover has included the
modernization of all 638 rooms and suites with contemporary décor and
furnishings, flat-screen televisions, iPod docking stations, pillow-top
mattresses and more. High-speed wired and wireless internet access are
available so you can stay connected to the world while traveling.
The
D Las Vegas is home to the Longbar. You can mingle and share in the
excitement of downtown with other visitors at the longest bar in Nevada.
This sleek spot has a color scheme of black combined with striking red
high-top chairs. Fifteen huge flat-screen monitors have been mounted
side-by-side down the length of the bar. There's another vibrant new bar
outside on Fremont Street -- the D Bar. Flair bartenders serve an array
of frozen drinks and specialty cocktails here. In addition, the Vue Bar
on the property's second floor is the place to go for the best view of
downtown's mesmerizing Viva Vision canopy.
Eclectic entertainment is always on tap at the resort. You can get tickets to the interactive mystery dinner show "Marriage Can Be Murder", the wacky music and comedy extravaganza put on by The Scintas or the topless revue "Raack N Roll." Comedy magician Adam London appears in the afternoons.
Featuring fine food and service, Joe Vicari's Andiamo Italian Steakhouse
on the second floor of The D Las Vegas offers expertly prepared steaks
and homemade pasta in an elegant setting. A true dining gem -- where you
can indulge in a five-star meal without the five-star price tag -- all
of the dishes here are prepared from scratch daily using only the
freshest ingredients. Among the items not to miss are the Andiamo Grande
Meatball, the 32-ounce Andiamo Tomahawk rib eyesteak, the Pappardelle
with Veal Ragu and the Cioppino alla Calabrese. Plus, the cannoli is to
die for!
For a more casual meal, step into the D Grill,
where breakfast, lunch and dinner are dished up in generous portions.
It's open 24 hours a day and every meal here -- from the fluffy Maui
Pancakes and the Southern Herb-Fried Chicken to the Bananas Foster Bread
Pudding -- is prepared from scratch. There's also a McDonald's on the premises. And The D Las Vegas has brought a Detroit hot dog legend to Sin City. American Coney Island now serves up Michigan's most famous Dearborn Sausage Company frankfurters -- complete with the secret recipe sauce!
The
casino at The D Las Vegas has been refreshed as well. You'll hear the
hottest hits over the speaker system while playing the latest in slot
machines and table games (some of which are hosted by the sizzling new
"Dancing Dealers"). On the second floor, guests wanting a blast to the
past will discover classic coin-operated machines and the beloved Sigma
Derby, an electronic horse racing game. There's even a new high-limit
gaming area as well as a William Hill Sports Book.
